In a world that increasingly depends on apps, the importance of social networking and its integration into our lives is well-established.
But how do you use social networking tools effectively to build your brand?
In a new article for Forbes, writer and tech entrepreneur, James Ransom, shares how Twitter, Facebook and Google’s own social networking services are all better at building brand, than they are at building brands.
“The social networking apps and services all have the same problems.
They are all built on the same underlying technologies,” Ransom said.
“Twitter has an easy platform for brand building, while Facebook has a harder platform.”
Ransom believes that the social networks are also in a bind because they lack the ability to build their brands on their own.
“They have no real way to build brand on their platform, but instead rely on their platforms and the users that follow them to help them do that,” he said.
That means they are unable to build brands and drive engagement that lead to traffic, which ultimately leads to a lack of brand loyalty.
“Twitter is not a company that is built on a platform,” he explained.
“It’s a company built on users.
Facebook is built by users.
Twitter is built for users.”
To be a successful social network you need to have the right mix of the right technologies, Ransom added.
“You have to have a user-focused product that allows for brand loyalty and engagement,” he continued.
“And you have to build a brand that’s relevant and relevant for the right people, and that’s a product that’s driven by users and that delivers on its promise.”
So what’s a social networking app to do?
Ransom suggests a few of the best social networking applications.
“I think the best application is Instagram,” he pointed out.
“Instagram is a product, it’s a service that lets people post pictures and videos of themselves.
It’s not a platform.
You can post to it, but it doesn’t have a platform.””
I would recommend Instagram as an application because it gives you an opportunity to build out your brand,” he added.
“I’d say the app is really the best way to create a brand.”
Rocker said that a big reason why Facebook and Twitter have struggled to build up their brand is because they don’t have the tools to build an online presence.
“Instagram has a lot of really powerful tools that Facebook doesn’t,” he noted.
“But Facebook has the power to build the same kind of profile for an image, for an ad, for a message, for things that can be shared.”
The other major problem with social networking platforms is the fact that users are often hesitant to share images and videos that are too personal, or that contain inappropriate language.
“In the past few years, we’ve seen a lot more people get upset with companies that don’t treat their users fairly,” he told Forbes.
“They are not going to be happy if they’re doing things like that.”
Facebook has an awesome tool called Likes that allows you to find people who like something you’re doing, or maybe people are sharing something you like.
